Background

Technical Shop is a family owned and operated hardware wholesale and retail shop based in Buea, Cameroon. As a means to shift the shop to formal management, the Technical Shop is having a structural overhaul. The Technical Shop is thereby putting in place standard management systems and processes as well as hiring professionals as interns, contract and permanent staff to run the affairs of the business. It is a transitional period with lots of ambiguity, trial-and-error, learning and more. 

Contract: Professional internship with possibility of a permanent contract

Location: Molyko - Buea

Working hours: 7:30am - 6:00pm

Duties and responsibilities:

• Manage transactions with customers using cash registers

• Collect payments whether in cash or credit

• Issue receipts, refunds, change or tickets

• Cross-sell products and introduce new ones

• Resolve customer complaints, guide them and provide relevant information

• Maintain clean and tidy checkout areas

• Track transactions on balance sheets and report any discrepancies

• Handle merchandise returns and exchanges

• Carry out banking transactions

• Carry out other duties assigned by superiors when necessary

Required profile:

• HND in Banking and Finance or Accounting / Advanced level in Accounting or Commerce

• Minimal experience in the banking environment will be a plus

• Mastery of computer applications like internet browser, MS Excel, MS Word etc

• Experience in using accounting or banking software will be a plus

• Ability to thrive in and transform an unstructured environment to a structured one
