• Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnose and prevention. Carry out outpatient and inpatient consultations, prescribing the necessary treatment respecting MSF protocols.
• Follow up the evolution of the hospitalized/IDP patients, through daily visits , consultations and examinations, pre-scribing the necessary treatment following MSF protocols, deciding whether they can be discharged or transferred to other departments – in collaboration with other doctors- and informing their family about the patient’s evolution.
• Check and control the rational distribution of medicines and equipment under his/her responsibility and take care the quality, disinfection and sterilization of the medical material. Assure general compliance with standing hygiene standards.
• Participate in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data, checking its validity and informing the line manager or project coordinator about any problem or complication of the patients illness, medical error and monitors the proper functioning of the department, equipment or material.
• Ensure ongoing training of the medical/paramedical multidisciplinary team in order to optimize the quality of care.
• Participate in the daily rounds in the departments, examining the patients.
• Ensure administrative procedures related to patients´ follow – up (individual card filling, registers, paper exit, discharge, referrals/transfers, etc.) are carried out correctly according to MSF procedures.
• Ensure the respect of hygiene and infection-control measures in every department, as well as the safety of the medical and nursing procedures.
• Actively participate in the emergency care in collaboration with the other medical doctor/s
• Ensure the triage system is/are carried out – according to criteria.
• Ensure admission, discharge, referral criteria and circuits is/are respected.
• Participate in the mass casualties according to approved MCP.
• Ensure that professional confidentially is/are respected.
• Actively participate in the pre and post-operative clinical care and ward rounds collaborating with the Surgeon, anesthetist, OT and ward staff (evaluating the surgical risks/obtaining patient´s consent prior to surgery) to ensure compliance with MSF protocols are applied.
• Available to assist the surgeon (depending on the needs) in carrying out emergency/programmed surgical procedures and in performing minor surgeries following MSF protocols.
• Actively participate in the regular trainings schedule with other Doctors and in identifying staff training needs.
